JULY | I CAN OBEY GOD AND MY PARENTS
Best Books for Babies and Toddlers: July Edition
Obedience might be the longest conversation of the toddler years. This month, we're walking through the story of Jonah together. It’s not meant to be a lesson in mastery, but as a reminder for our kids (and us) that God's boundaries are for our safety and joy.
Also, there are some "under the sea" themed books to go along with July’s Monthly Menu theme. While you are experimenting with things that sink or float or practicing "listening play," these books will reinforce the value of trusting God’s way. God is patient and persistent with His people.
Jonah and the Very Big Fish by Tim Thornborough — This is an engaging retelling of Jonah's journey from "no" to "yes." Every toddler can relate to not wanting to do what they're told. This one is a great conversation starter.
The Best Thing To Do by Steph Williams — In this retelling of the story of Mary and Martha, readers are reminded that listening to Jesus is always the best thing to do.
Row, Row, Row Your Boat: Indestructibles Book — This month’s nursery rhyme is featured in a highly durable book. It can withstand chewing, tearing, and being squished at the bottom of your diaper bag.
The Storm That Stopped by Alison Mitchell — Another story that illustrates the concept of obedience for little ones. Even the wind and waves obey Him.
Daniel Learns to Swim— Being near water and obedience go hand in hand during the summer. Review swimming safety with your toddler with this familiar narrative.
Peek-a-Flap Ocean by Cottage Door Press — These thick, sturdy board pages are a great first introduction to the ocean and its creatures.
What Are Ears For? by Abbey Wedgeworth — Another of my favorites in her series, this book emphasizes obedience motivated by God’s grace.
Want a simple, intentional way to use these books all month long without doing hours of lesson prep?
That's exactly what Monthly Menus was designed for. Each month's curriculum fits in a menu sleeve and is ready to guide your conversations, songs, prayers, and playtime.
